The UFC in jeopardy after losing UFC 222 main event card, which is set to take place on March 3 in Las Vegas.

As per recent breaking report, featherweight champion, Max Holloway suffered an undisclosed injury that will take him out of his title defense bout against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222.

“According to sources, featherweight champion Max Holloway has suffered an injury that will prevent him from defending his title against Frankie Edgar. The UFC has not officially pulled Holloway from the event, but is expected to do so shortly. The promotion is already in the process of exploring other options for its main event.” – as reported by Brett Okamoto via ESPN.

It looks like both fighters just aren’t destined to fight each other. They were originally booked to fight at UFC 218 on Dec. 2 in Detroit, but Frankie Edgar had to pull out due to an injury. Jose Aldo stepped in to compete Max Holloway, and it resulted in back-t0-back wins over the former featherweight king.

The fight with Frankie Edgar was scheduled again for UFC 222, but this time its featherweight champ Max Holloway who has suffered a setback. The UFC is currently trying to put together another main event, whether that be a replacement for Holloway or another fight altogether is unknown at this time.

Max Holloway is riding a 12-fight win streak, while Frankie Edgar has not fought since May 2017.
