BREAKING: Chris Weidman Just Wants to See Anderson Silva Retire Already

NEW YORK, February 2, 2015 — Chris Weidman’s climb to the top of the UFC’s Middleweight division has a lot to do with two fights against Anderson Silva. The first fight ended when Weidman caught Anderson who was goofing around a bit, which left a bad taste in a lot of mouths. The second fight had a similarly odd ending when Weidman checked a leg kick from Silva and Silva’s leg snapped, leaving the former champion crying out in pain in the middle of the ring while Matt Serra was heard saying “Good, fuck him.”

Anderson Silva made his triumphant return this weekend at UFC 183 and many are anxiously awaiting a possible third meeting between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman. Weidman now holds two victories over the elusive striker and understands that a third fight could be worth big money for him, but took a stance on Lord Ariel Helwani of the MMA Media’s MMA Hour this afternoon that he, as a fan, would like to see Silva retire.

It would perhaps be best for Silva, who is rapidly approaching 40, to step away from the sport while he’s ahead and leave everyone with great memories as opposed to making a depressing exit like many other MMA greats have with a spotted record and only picking up wins over hand-picked opponents much like we saw from Fedor Emelianenko, Rich Franklin, Tim Sylvia and Chuck Liddell.
