Bobby Lashley is your new Shark Fights Heavyweight Champion

Bobby Lashley waits for no man. I know this because I played phone tag with him for almost a week before he finally called me for an interview last spring. Ultimately the interview went down while I was in the Audio/Video section of a Best Buy in Aurora, Illinois while I tested out the 3D TV’s. During the interview The Dominator promised me that a ‘new’ Bobby Lashley would be emerging from his loss to Chad Griggs. Later that week Bobby brought John Ott to a decision and even Zeus, his most passionate supporter, thought maybe Bobby wasn’t what we thought he was. Did Chad Griggs steal his soul?

Apparently not. Under the tutelage of The Warmaster Josh Barnett, Bobby Lashley defeated 20-6 Karl Knothe at Shark Fights 21 last night and in the process took home the Shark Fights heavyweight title. It looks like Lashley had his way with the vet Knothe, from what I hear (aka what I read on MMA Junkie) Bobby took Knothe down and then applied a Kimura/top wristlock/Americana/key-lock to snatch the victory. It looks like the time training with Barnett has paid off, this is what Lashley said to MMA Junkie:

It was exactly what we working on, from the transition to getting into it,”  “Step by step we went over that same series, like, maybe hundreds of times.”

“I had to go through a couple of mental drains there to get back into training and figuring everything out. It’s time to keep training and keep going,”

Props Bobby, maybe now a fight with Fedor can still somehow align in the stars.
