Bo Nickal opened up about how he developed a friendship with the newly re-elected president of the United States Donald Trump.
Being friends with Trump is weird but an honor
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Nickal recalled the beginning of his unusual relationship with the POTUS. According to Bo, it all started when he was invited to the White House in 2019 and he has been friends with Trump since then.
At one point, Nickal revealed that Trump even offered to be his manager.
“This really started in 2019, I won the Nationals and got invited to the White House,” Nickal said. “I told him I was gonna fight, he asked me if I needed a manager and he would manage me for the fights. I was like, ‘I think you’re a little too busy.’ So it kinda started there and then after my second fight in the UFC, it would’ve been UFC 290, he was in the crowd and invited me to come golf with him at Bedminster so I flew back to New Jersey that week, we golfed together, and since then he kinda likes me for whatever reason, I don’t know, and of course I loved hanging out with him, loved spending time with him and learning and just talking about stuff. So we’ve hung out a bunch since then.”
“We did a golf tournament at his course, sat in the suite with him, then golfed with him again this past summer. It’s really weird for me to have him be mentioning me as much as he has and I think it’s an honor and such a cool thing for the president of the United States to be a fan of you. It feels crazy,” he added.

Bo thinks Trump will be at UFC 309
Prior to winning the election, Trump said he might fly to New York to watch Nickal at UFC 390 when he faces Paul Craig. When asked about it, the 28-year-old revealed that Trump himself confirmed that he would be there unless something more important comes up.
“I think he’s gonna be there. He told me a couple of times that he’s gonna be there,” Nickal confirmed. “He’s the president… I’m sure that if he’s not there [at UFC 309], there was something else that was more important.”
Nickal has been on a three-fight winning streak since earning a UFC contract at Dana White’s Contender Series. He will be looking not only to improve his record but also makes it closer to the middleweight division’s Top 15.
