According to a group out there on the interwebs (and on a multitude of street billboards) the world was supposed to come to an end on May 21st 2011. They even made a snazzy video about it. Now just a year later, a less sophisticated society predicted the end of the world is going to come to an end on December 21st 2012.
It’s the end of the Mayan Calender, some grand galactic planetary alignment will take place — even Terence McKenna’s ‘Timewave Zero’ ends at or around that date. Granted when we wrote our list of ‘The Top Ten Fights We Want To See Before 2012 Blows Up The Earth,’ we thought there would be some global identifiers by now. Unfortunately there’s no ominous space ship hovering above the White House or some killer asteroid headed directly towards us. In fact, when it comes to extreme apocalyptic scenarios that have the possibility to wipe out all sentient life — 2012 has been pretty docile thus far.
However, if the world is scheduled to kick the bucket on December 21st 2012 (just twenty-six days from now), we would still like to see some kick-ass MMA match-ups. Although this list was written over three years ago, only one fight has come to fruition.
