There was a point in the planet’s timeline in which Chris Weidman competed in other combat sports besides MMA. Sure those days are gone now that he’s locked to a UFC contract and will face Anderson Silva at UFC 162. Back in 2009, Chris Weidman ventured off into the ADCC tournament and ended up being on the opposite end of the mat to Vinny Magalhaes for the Absolute division. We hate to ruin it for you, but Magalhaes grabbed a bronze at the tournament (actually, two bronze medals — in the Absolute and -99kg division). That could mean Chris Weidman went on to defeat Vinny and get a silver medal — or that Magalhaes pulled off a gnarly flying armbar to advance in the tournament. Why don’t you just find out in this edition of Blast to the Past.
