The Former Two-Division Champion BJ Penn Could Only Fight If He Gets A Good Offer
BJ Penn is currently on no man’s land – he isn’t heated up for the return, however, he is not officially retired yet, so anything could happen along the way.
BJ Penn is the former UFC two-division champion and a UFC Hall Of Famer. When he was asked about his future intentions, Penn claimed he is currently unsure, having no plans at all. (via bloodyelbow.com)
“I don’t know. You never know,” Penn told media at the event (via Severe MMA). “You never know what I’m going to do, but no plans, nothing scheduled.”
BJ Penn (16-12-2 MMA) is on a very cold streak at the moment. He lost his last fight at UFC Fight Night 112 in June 2017 to German-Russian Taekwondo fighter known for a brutal spinning back kick to the body, Dennis Siver, via controversial majority decision. His last victory came in 2010 when he sent Matt Hughes to sleep via the first-round knockout.
Penn was the UFC Lightweight champion back in 2009 but he is considered one of the best MMA fighters of all time. This time, BJ Penn has one demand – he needs a fighter he can beat.
“Give me a guy that I can beat and I’ll come back,” Penn said.
Penn was very disappointed after his loss to Siver and didn’t train much. However, BJ recently returned to the gym so all the cards are still open.
“I wasn’t training for the whole time (after the fight), but I just started training the last month or two, because I get just so depressed when I’m out of the gym,” he said. “I gotta get in and work out.”
BJ Penn currently pays more attention to his family – he works at his taro farm at Hawaii, drives kids to school, attends their soccer practices, spends some quality time at his home… It is currently unknown whether he prepares for the fight or simply tries to get in shape.
Seeing BJ inside the Octagon one more time would be excellent for promotion and pay-per-view buys. Do you agree with us? Who could be his next rival? Leave us comments!
