McGregor’s Ruined Rep Has Consequences
Conor McGregor is arguably the biggest star that the sport of MMA has ever seen. Unfortunately, due to his recent antics, McGregor’s rep has been on a steady decline. A rut so deep that UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping believes that If McGregor were to fight Nate Diaz for the third time, he would be the B side.
Bisping Explained On His Podcast
On a recent episode of his Believe You Me podcast, Bisping expressed how Diaz vs Masvidal could be huge. He then explained how it could be bigger than Nate vs McGregor 3. Furthermore, he shared that if the two were to fight again, Conor would be the B-side.

Bisping on Nate vs Masvidal
“I’d say a bigger fight right now. Well maybe not bigger, but to a casual fan I don’t know Masvidal’s pretty big right now,” Bisping stated. “Look at what he just did.”
Mike on Diaz vs McGregor 3
In reference to Conor, Bisping expressed his belief that Nate currently has more star power than McGregor does.
“Conor would be the B-side in that fight right now,” stated Bisping.
“In terms of popularity, I don’t know, I think (Nate) Diaz may have surpassed him. He played that perfectly.”, said Bisping. “He took three years away from the sport, came back, didn’t get the push from the UFC. Kind (of) like went up against the UFC, he was kinda that guy and came out on top.”
Bisping then continued to praise Diaz for his performances and the way he carries himself. He loves the authenticity that Nate brings to the sport; a trait that is rare in the game today.
“He won that battle, he was sensational, the fight was fantastic.”, continued Bisping. “The performance was great, he handled himself in a way that people love. He’s real, he’s authentic.”
The Downfall of Conor
Many fans have expressed the notion that the sport has moved on beyond needing Conor to draw massive numbers. With media members like Brendan Schaub and Michael Bisping expressing the same notion, it’s hard to not see Nate as MMA’s current biggest star.
Regardless of the media’s opinions surrounding Conor’s recent antics, he is still a household name, McGregor is still the highest-grossing pay per view the UFC has ever seen. Figuring out who would be the B-side would be in the massive trilogy fight, sounds like the best problem the UFC could ever have.
