UFC And Strikeforce Vet Benji Radach Dead At 45

The former UFC middleweight has been confirmed dead.

UFC veteran Benji Radach has passed away at the age of 45.

“The Razor” is gone

It has been confirmed that Radach has died. The announcement of the MMA veteran’s untimely death was initially shared by his family on Facebook but the cause has yet to be disclosed, per MMA Fighting.

MMA Fighting’s senior reporter Damon Martin took to social and lamented to passing of “a great  dude.”

“Just learned that UFC and Strikeforce veteran Benji Radach has passed away. Benji was always such a great dude, talked to him many times. Just went back through our last text exchange talking about his wild year in IFL where he fought 6 times in one year. Gone way too soon,” he wrote on X.

Benji’s MMA career

Radach may not be as famous as his other contemporaries but he was a pioneer of the sport, having competed as a pro in 2001. He fought for several MMA promotions before landing on UFC in May 2002.

Benji rapidly rose to prominence as a middleweight fighter and went 1-1-1 under the UFC banner. Among his most notable fights was his TKO loss to former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk at UFC 39.

Prior to joining the UFC, “The Razor” participated in the second World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) event, where he achieved victory over Royden Demotta with a technical knockout in just 61 seconds. He later had a period of successful run with the IFL where he went 5-1.

Radach then had brief stints with EliteXC, Strikeforce and Bellaltor. He capped off his pro MMA career with a record of 21-7-1.
