Ben Askren is moving to Singapore to train with Evolve MMA

Time zones are strange. As I write this here in the UK, it’s Sunday night. In America it’s Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening, depending on where you are in the country. In Singapore, it’s already Monday morning and some of the more keen workers are already up or working. You could probably put Chatri Sityodtong in that category since he send over an email a few hours ago to let us know that former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren has joined Evolve MMA.

Askren will be working with Evolve and Roufusport over in Singapore so while you’re eating dinner in America, it’ll be around 1am in Singapore and he will most likely be sleeping. Movement between such stark differences in time can be pretty stressful on the body, so surely this will make his journey to American UFC cards pretty difficult, right? Unless this is an indication of his next employer’s location…

People have called Askren one of the best welterweights in the world but Dana White advised him to look at fighting elsewhere for the moment, even suggesting World Series of Fighting as a potential home. Could ONE FC be next for Askren? I know what I’d prefer to do. Plus, Singapore does look pretty neat!
