Ben Askren Wants A UFC Debut Versus Colby Covington, But Khabib Is Also On His List Of Potential Rivals
It looks like the historic trade between ONE and UFC might happen soon. There were talks that Ben Askren might join UFC. In exchange, the former 11-time UFC Flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, could test his luck in Asia. It would be beneficial for both fighters. “Mighty Mouse” is believed to earn bigger payday, while Ben Askren could finally test his skills against a superstar.
There were threats in the past that UFC Flyweight division might stop existing. “Mighty Mouse” has already had troubles with UFC. Ray Borg described in June 2017 that UFC didn’t like the fact “boring Demetrious Johnson can’t sell since he is not a marketable guy”. But Johnson is a family man. So more cash sounds like a great offer.
Ben Askren has found a perfect opponent for his UFC debut – Colby Covington. Despite Tyron Woodley is already scheduled to fight “Chaos”, “Funky” hopes Colby will get his ass kicked. He has already called “Chaos” on Twitter.
@ColbyCovMMA might get beat up by @TWooodley first but I’m calling dibs on whipping him next. He is despicable

His other choice is an undefeated Dagestani Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The Eagle” comes out with a submission victory over Conor McGregor. Ben Askren mentioned “humbling the old country way”.

UFC wasn’t friendly towards Ben Askren when his Bellator contract expired. Askren was hoping for the match versus the champion at that time, Johny Hendricks. “Funky” ended up signing for ONE Championship, where he remained undefeated. But if Askren comes into the UFC, he will finally fight an elite rival!
Now you’re all in big big trouble!

In the meantime, Demetrious Johnson has changed the name of his Twitter account. It is called @Mighty1Gaming now.

As well as you see, trading is the standard language in Zuffa contracts.

What are your thoughts on this trade? Who would you like to see fighting Ben Askren first? Will Colby Covington reply Askren’s callout? Askren Vs Covington would be a showdown between two wrestlers. But if he gets a chance to fight “The Eagle”, one of them will be defeated for the first time. Unless, of course, the match ends in a draw!
