Bellator gets a TV deal with FX to air fights LIVE

Well, I’m happy to report that Bjorn Rebney and I are back on talking terms. I email him, and he never responds. We have a relationship based on one-sided communication. My communication relationship with Bjorn Rebney is synonymous to America’s diplomatic relationship with North Korea. We constantly reach out and all we get are sporadic nuclear testing, pseudo-communism and absolutely no response. Of course, in this example, we’re America. Bjorn Rebney is the communist country — in case there’s any confusion.

Despite my attempt to squeeze some information out of Rebney in these past few weeks, MMAJunkie breaks the news that Bellator has inked a television deal with the FX Network (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy) and will air events live, regardless of timezones. Finally, we don’t have wait until 2am EST to see Shlemenko send a guy astral traveling via spinning backfist.

Bellator will most likely keep its Thursday evening slot with ‘highlight packages’ being aired on Fox Sports Network and Fuel TV. It’s important to note that Bellator seemed to be aiming at a PPV model ever since the organization was formed in 2008. This new deal seems to be another step in their desired direction and using FX as a vehicle for MMA is so intriguing of an idea that I wish I thought of it — and then told Bjorn Rebney about it.
