LOL Bellator. Come on man. The thing that sucks in all this is that model/fighter Anastasia Bruce is going to get crap. Bellator really wants Valerie Loureda to win her promotional debut.
Bellator tried to sneak one by everyone and got caught. See the thing is. Um, what happened was. Yeah, Bellator tried to book Anastasia Bruce versus Valerie Loureda on their Feb. 15th card in Connecticut. So what’s the problem?
You see Valerie is a Taekwondo killer who trains at American Top Team. Sure she is 2-1 in her amateur MMA career but everyone knows Bellator is investing a ton of money in building up the female flyweight.
Something about being marketable, something else about the 18-35 male demographic, something about MMA fans (male sports fan in general) being easy to advertise to.
So yeah, Bellator wants Valerie to win her debut. What’s the best way for your new MMA prospect to get a win? Find a tomato can for her to beat up.
Bellator being Bellator may have went too deep down the soup and or canned vegetable aisle.
An aspiring MMA fighter in her own right, Anastasia Bruce is an astounding 0-12 in her amateur MMA career. Yup, not 0-5. Not 0-10 but 0-12 on the regional MMA scene.
Bruce is still only 23 years old and she began her amateur career in 2015. To her credit Bruce fought five times in 2018 and lost three fights by sub and two by decision. One was split though, so progress and such.
“After commission head Mike Mazzulli denied Anastasia Bruce (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) as an opponent for the preliminary-card bout at Bellator 215 (a note first reported by Eric Kowal on Twitter) due to her winless amateur record over a dozen fights, Bellator officials today told MMAjunkie they are now searching for a new opponent to face Loureda (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA).”
At first we were against Bellator signing Bruce to feed to Loureda but you know what? Nobody gets paid in amateur MMA except the promoters, if Bruce wants to move up in weight (really Bellator you found a strawweight fro your prized flyweight?) and make her pro debut versus Valerie Loureda then why the hell not?
Bellator messed up on this one, not Bruce or Loureda.
It’s a mismatch but you got to start your pro career sometime. MiddleEasy is officially Team Bruce, let her make her debut and let the chips fall where they may.
