Bellator 46 is ready to smack you in your face this weekend

Bellator kicks off again in three days and for some reason this seems to have flown under the radar a little bit, unlike Game of Thrones. Bellator’s featherweight tournament is superlative and all four quarter-final bouts make up the entirety of the main card. Game of Thrones (GoT) is now my pound-for-pound favorite TV show and I’ve devised a completely arbitrary ten-point system for comparing any event or activity to an episode of the TV show. For example, the Street MMA video which ended with a soccer mom kick to the face scores 7.5 GoT. Violence – check; unexpected ending – check; sex; absent. MMA on the whole scores around 8.0 GoT, so let’s see how Bellator 46 holds up.

Unlike Game of Thrones, Bellator 46 will not feature fornicating dwarves, but it will feature tournament favorite Marlon Sandro vs. Genair da Silva. Shark Fights featherweight champion, Ronnie Mann, will face Adam Schindler and Nazareno Malegarie begins another run at Bellator’s featherweight tournament against Jacob DeVree. The card will be headlined by a true Bellator veteran in Luis Palomino who fought all the way back on the first Bellator card against the always game Pat Curran, who is moving down a weight class after losing to Eddie Alvarez. Bellator 46 gains a tentative score of 8.5 GoT, based on expected violence, blood, retribution and ring girls. Who knows, there may even be a surprise ending.
