Belal Muhammad believes that Leon Edwards, of all people, has been given privileges by UFC President Dana White.

Muhammad is fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Vicente Luque this past Saturday night (April 16) at UFC Vegas 51. With the win, Muhammad will now find himself in the top five UFC welterweight rankings. While it is quite an achievement for Belal, he isn’t about to rest on his laurels.

Belal Muhammad Says Leon Edwards Gets Special Treatment

During the UFC Vegas 51 post-fight press conference, Belal Muhammad expressed his belief that Leon Edwards is being spoonfed on his way to a UFC Welterweight Title opportunity (h/t

“None of these guys are fighting the contenders in the division, none of these guys have the guts to do that. I’m the one that’s going through 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I’m the one saying yes to the toughest in the division. Leon may have more wins than me, but he doesn’t have the quality of wins that I have.”

Muhammad went on to say that he’s more deserving of a shot at 170-pound gold.

“I do. I don’t think he deserves to fight for the title. I think he has that Dana White privilege, but whatever. I don’t expect to be handed anything, I had to fight for everything I got. And I have to be willing to keep doing it.”

Muhammad has said that if he isn’t next in line for a title shot, then he wants either Khamzat Chimaev or Colby Covington. Either fight would certainly bring him closer than ever to a UFC championship opportunity with a win.

As for Edwards, he’s reportedly likely to challenge UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman this July. The bout hasn’t been made official.
