Belal Muhammad took issue with Amanda Nunes’ comments after her victory over Julianna Pena at UFC 277.

Belal Muhammad Goes After Amanda Nunes

Over the weekend, Amanda Nunes recaptured the UFC women’s bantamweight title by defeating Pena in the UFC 277 pay-per-view (PPV) main event.

Nunes not only regained the 135-pound crown, but avenged the first loss of her career in seven years.

It was a dominant performance from Nunes, who won all five rounds on the judges’ scorecards despite several submission attempts from Pena off her back.

Scoring several knockdowns, after the fight, Nunes claimed she could’ve finished Pena several times if she wanted to.

However, she held back, claiming she wanted to go all five rounds to show Pena who was truly the better fighter.

Belal Muhammad, however, has taken to Instagram to offer his take on the situation, suggesting Nunes is getting “too cocky.”

“There were moments in the fight where Julianna could have won that fight.

“Amanda [Nunes] I felt like is getting too cocky, getting too arrogant saying ‘I could have finished her in the first round if I wanted to, but I wanted to go five rounds so I could show her who’s better’, blah, blah, blah.

“Get out of here with that. You couldn’t finish her. She knows that Julianna punches hard, her eye was very swollen, she left on crutches while leaving. So, she was definitely in a fight.”

Now, both Nunes and Pena are 1-1 against one another, setting the table for a potential trilogy bout down the line.

Pena scored a win over Nunes in their first meeting back in December, submitting Nunes after rocking her in the second round.

It was one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. With Nunes now avenging the defeat, now Pena will likely seek redemption of her own.
