Bas Rutten isn’t so sure if Chael Sonnen can improve ratings for The Ultimate Fighter

Bas has done everything you could possibly imagine in MMA, including things that you once imagined, but forgot when you realized that you should focus on your school work instead of living vicariously through what you believe someone’s life consists of. That’s an incredibly long sentence. Some people’s attention span will turn off mid-way through, but you must persevere through the rest of the sentence. It’s a complete thought, you must believe. Believe in the English language. Also, don’t forget to believe that Bas Rutten isn’t so sure that Chael Sonnen can improve ratings for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. Check out this excerpt we transcribed from an ESPN Seattle interview with the former champion.

Chael, someone that never had a title, except for the one he gave himself of course, and didn’t do well in this 205 weight class anyway — I just think it’s a weird message that you send to the fans. I know the real reason is because of course The Ultimate Fighter they need ratings — the ratings are really bad. They think if they get Chael on, the ratings will go up. I think that will happen in the first few shows, but I don’t know if it’s going to be funny every week, so we have to find out.

Is it good to hear the same thing [from Chael Sonnen] over and over again? What I want to see is [him] bring in great trainers and make the fighters better. Now I have the feeling it’s going to be more of one of those set-up shows in where everybody’s going to start talking, trying to mess with each others heads and get great ratings — although the fight will do good in ratings. I can guarantee you that. So props to Chael, that’s one thing he can do — talk.

If civilization was forced to restart due to some cataclysmic event (like a zombie apocalypse) experts believe Bas Rutten will not be the person to lead humanity back to normality. ‘Experts’ being my friends who sincerely believe zombies taking over the city of Los Angeles is a plausible scenario. In fact one of my friends is so adamant about this seemingly improbable event that he has moved from Los Angeles to a mountain in Colorado and has set up hidden provision stations near his house just in case he finds himself away from his residence at the exact time when the undead began to rise and take over the planet.
