A women’s flyweight bout between Maycee Barber and Montana De La Rosa is taking place now (Saturday, Apr. 23, 2022) at UFC Vegas 52.
Round 1
Barber with a leg kick early on. Barber clinches her against the fence and lands some foot stomps. De La Rosa reverses and the action hits the ground. Barber gets back on her feet after De La Rosa was on top for a moment. Barber clinches her agains the fence again but is reversed. Barber reverses. She gets off some shots but De La Rosa scrambles and they fall down. They remain clinched, though, and Barber is on her against the fence again. Barber controls one of the wrists and starts landing a number of lefts. The round comes to an end soon after.
Round 2
The action returns to the cage as Barber is clinched against the fence now. De La Rosa gets her back but doesn’t have wrist controls or the hooks in. However, she adjusts and gets Barber fully down on the ground. De La Rosa has the hooks in, but is in the side position. Barber reverses and is on top but is still in danger with the triangle choke. Barber gets out of danger and is now looking to land shots from the top. Barber lands some short elbows. De La Rosa repositions and gets Barber on the bottom again to end the round.
Round 3
De La Rosa lands a right. De La Rosa throws more but is backed up by a pressuring Barber. They clinch up eventually. Like much of this fight, they continue to reverse the position. Barber looks to control her back. She lands a nice knee on De La Rosa’s head. She takes her down soon after. De La Rosa gets to her feet after Barber lets her up and the fight comes to an end soon after.
Official Result: Maycee Barber defeats Montana De La Rosa via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
