A couple of years ago, my ex-girlfriend told me that if she encountered Renato Sobral, she would leave me for him. It was cool, I just wanted her to come back with a three-paragraph essay on how it was. Babalu has always been one of my favorite fighters. I was one of the few who actually predicted Babalu to defeat Lawler at Strikeforce LA and I will brag about this until I get some type of reward for my soothsaying accomplishment.
It was tough fight and Babalu endured an array of explosions to his dome. Minutes after the fight, the media snatched Babalu in order to ask him a variety of questions he did not feel like answering. His injures were so severe that he was immediately taken to the emergency room and could not attend this post-fight press conference. I stood backstage in the hallway at the Nokia Theater and focused my camera directly on Babalu’s face in complete awe. Here’s the end result:
