Attention ladies & germs: what we have here is an example of an uber late stoppage

When it comes to choking there’s a few things in place to prevent a person from danger and being put to sleep. That includes tapping out and referees. Sometimes a fighter let’s their pride get in the way and refuses to tap. Or maybe they just don’t recognize they are about to get a visit from the sandman. That’s where a good referee becomes important. The ref is there to stop the fighter from going to sleep and prevent any extended period of unconsciousness or danger.

I know first hand the importance of a referee when it comes to choking. In my case, I realized too late that I wasn’t going to be able to verbalize our go-to safety word and to sleep I went. Maybe in the future I should consider bringing a referee along for of these sort of ‘extracurricular’ activities but that might be a bit weird for my date. Safety first, my friends. A ref is only helpful though, if they know the correct moment to intervene in a choke. In the following clip, this ref might need to retake the  ‘stopping a choke before a guy is passed out cold and unconscious for 30 seconds’ class. This stoppage is so late people in the crowd have to yell to the ref that the guy is out cold. Check it out.
