Anthony Smith Vows To Wreck Luke Rockhold Apart, Rockhold Responds
It seems Anthony Smith and Luke Rockhold definitively don’t like each other. The two have never met inside the Octagon. Yet, Rockhold fired the first verbal shot last year when he questioned Anthony’s ability to fight at the 205-pound division. (h/t MMAMania.com)
Since then, “Lionheart” lost to Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 235 after five rounds of war, while Luke Rockhold hinted his official move to Light Heavyweight division. Anthony Smith claims he’d teach the former 185-pound champ a lesson, and even vows to “drill a hole” through California native!
“That guys a f—king piece of sh-t,” said Smith during UFC’s seasonal press conference early Friday. “F—k Luke Rockhold. The first opportunity I get, I’m gonna drill a hole through Luke Rockhold’s f—king face. I promise you guys that.”
Anthony Smith is set to fight against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on ESPN+ 10, but he is also willing to square off against Luke Rockhold as soon as possible.
“The first opportunity I get after this fight [with Gustafsson],” Smith said when asked when he’d like to fight Rockhold. “It doesn’t matter what happens. I’ll fight Luke Rockhold with one f—king leg. I’m going to beat that dude’s f—king ass.”
Rockhold fired back, claiming Smith’s words show that truth actually hurts.
“The truth hurts. I don’t know, some people just can’t take the truth,” Rockhold told TMZ. “The problem is I always tell it so he can keep talking, keep running his mouth but he had his opportunity. He could have manned up instead of being a b***h and the errand boy for the UFC.
“There’s balls to take fights and there’s balls to not take fights. I saw his interview and he obviously didn’t want to take this fight. He wanted to take time off, could have done that. Could have stuck to your word because I would have been right here, first thing I asked the UFC after that fight was to make this thing happen. Then he bitched out, ran their errands and went out to Stockholm.”
Luke Rockhold kindly advises Anthony Smith to concentrate on the upcoming match with Gustafsson.
“Better focus on the fight coming up because my opinion is he’s about to get his a*s kicked,” Rockhold added. “Go out there and go take your a*s whooping and come talk to me afterwards.
It seems Rockhold believes Texas native sucks as a fighter.
I don’t think much of Anthony Smith, I don’t think he’s very tough, technical, talented.
“He ain’t got what it takes. He’s not going to be drilling nothing. I will own that kid from start to finish anywhere he wants to go. He’s not really on my radar. I’m going to go do my thing and I’ll enjoy watching him get beat up in Stockholm.”
