Anthony Smith Earns A Fourth-Round Rear-Naked Choke Win Over Alexander Gustafsson Behind The Enemy Lines!

The Light Heavyweight match between three-time UFC 205-pound title challenger Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson and tough ex-CFCC and VFC Middleweight king Anthony “The Lionheart” Smith headlines UFC Fight Night 153, which is going down live this afternoon (Saturday, June 1, 2019), from inside Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Here is an interesting fact. While Anthony Smith entered the enemy territory slowly, Alexander Gustafsson ran towards the cage. Marc Goddard is our referee. The UFC Stockholm main event kicks off!

 

Round 1

Gustafsson has a height and a reach advantage. Gustafsson circles around his opponent, Smith keeps the center of the octagon. It looks like a tactical war, no hard strikes in the first minute of the first round. Right-hand Smith, but big miss.

Smith switches stances, Gustafsson keeps circling. Big 1-2 combo Anthony Smith, missed by a hair. Front kick miss Gustafsson. Low kick Smith.

Good exchange on both sides, Smith slams “The Mauler” to the chin. Good kick to the knee by Gustafsson. Wow, great left hand by Anthony Smith. Body kick missed by a hair.

Another great punch, it had to hurt. Another front kick to the thigh, Gustafsson controls his opponent well. Smith moves forward, both fighters are very cautious. Right overhand Smith, just missed. Low kick Smith, checked.

Smith goes for a left high kick but misses again. Gustafsson again delivers teep kick to the knee. Front kick Smith. 1-2 Anthony Smith, Gustafsson blocks well.

Another kick to the thigh, Gustafsson moves like a cat, Smith punishes him with a left low kick. Excellent left jab Gustafsson, front kick to the body. Smith fires back with a left hand. End of the round, 10-9 Smith.

Oh, it seems the cut on Gustafsson’s left shin is big!!

Smith’s cornermen use some weird codes – “spear 7” and “ninja”.

 

Round 2

Gustafsson attacks with a great front kick to the head but Smith slips away. Leg kick Gustafsson. Body kick Gustafsson, no success this time.

Anthony Smith misses overhand right, it came so close, Gustafsson ducks under. Another overhand right missed, Gustafsson punishes him with a body-head punch combo. Gustafsson keeps circling, and lands a good left hand to the head.

Great left high kick by Anthony Smith, blocked. It seems Gustafsson delivers another low kick, Smith counters with 1-2. Awesome exchange, Smith delivers a big left hand.

Low kick Smith, checked. Smith goes for a takedown, stuffed. Why is he doing this, Gustafsson is a world-class wrestler?

Anthony attacks Gustafsson with a great combo. Big left hook. Fighters return to the center of the cage. Wow, it was a big right hand by Anthony Smith, what a straight punch to the face!!!

Leg kick Gustafsson. Hey, it seems Anthony’s left thigh turned red!

Left high kick Gustafsson, blocked, the Swede delivers a strong leg kick followed by a left uppercut. Good oblique kick Alexander. The end of the round, 10-9 Smith.

Gustafsson’s corner demands more feinting, and then punch combo. His kicks are well, but he is warned about Anthony’s overhands.

 

Round 3

Gustafsson feints. Good kick to the thigh. More feints by Gustafsson, and now a body kick by Gustafsson. Fantastic combo, world-class exchange, there were at least five strong punches!

1-2 Gustafsson, followed by a big right hand. Excellent low kick Gustafsson, Smith fires back. Gustafsson keeps missing with a left jab. Smith delivers big right hand to Swede’s head, “The Mauler” escapes and moves towards the center.

Good right hand by Gustafsson, blocked. Now a solid body kick attempt by Smith. Gustafsson aims legs again.

Smith attacks with a front kick to the body. Wow, this low kick had to hurt. Big left hook Gustafsson. Front kick to the head missed by a hair. Right low kick by Gustafsson.

Low kick Smith. Wow, this jab rocked Smith, his legs wobbled. But Smith misses an elbow off the clinch by a hair, fires back with a 1-2 combo. Gustafsson’s leg bleeds heavily.

Body kick, and now Gustafsson takes Smith down to the ground.

Can Gustafsson finish the fight? Gustafsson transitions from side control to full guard, delivers two good punches. The end of the round, 10-9 Smith.

Smith’s corner orders him to take a deep breath. His coach advises him to strike harder and more often.

 

Round 4

Low kick Gustafsson. Wow, what a brutal counter by Anthony Smith, he stopped the left high kick attempt, great interception. Is Anthony Smith tired? Good body kick Smith. Now another great combo by the American.

Gustafsson goes for a takedown, but Smith counters him well and ends up on the top of him.

Anthony Smith punishes Gustafsson off the back, Gustafsson tries to let him slide through back door, but Smith wrapped both legs around Alexander’s body.

Gustafsson goes down, this is very bad, Anthony Smith punishes him with a brutal combo of elbows and punches.

Smith goes for a submission attempt! That’s it, Gustafsson surrenders! Victory for Anthony Smith!
