Anthony Pettis And Jorge Masvidal Will Compete In Jiu-Jitsu Match This Summer

Two of MMA’s most exciting strikers will be taking on each other in a jiu-jitsu competition this summer. Anthony Pettis and Jorge Masvidal are set to compete on June 15th under the DT Promotions banner.

According to a tweet from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, this event will take place in Pensicola Florida. It will also feature another UFC fighter, in Yoel Romero. However, Romero’s opponent is still TBD.

“Jorge Masvidal & Anthony Pettis have agreed to meet in a grappling match on 6/15 in Pensacola, Fla. The event, which‘ll also feature Yoel Romero x TBD + the debut of the great Supreme Patty, will air live in iPPV. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Bully Proof Foundation.”

It is exciting to see Masvidal and Pettis competing for charity. Unfortunately, according to a report from MMAMania, there are quite a lot of unknowns about the event. The website for the foundation the fighters are raising money for, is still parked by GoDaddy. Also, the cost of the PPV is still unknown.

However, it is safe to say this is a legit operation. Helwani is a trusted source, along with both Jorge Masvidal and Anthony Pettis sharing info for it themselves. Time will reveal more details on the matter, as they develop.

Both Anthony Pettis and Jorge Masvidal have UFC bouts coming up, in addition to this grappling match. Pettis is set to take on Nate Diaz, while Masvidal is taking on Ben Askren. Both bouts are grudge matches for the fighters.
