I’ve never won a religious argument, but I can claim victory on a vegetarian debate I had in 2006. In short, I said ‘If humans are not supposed to eat meat, then how can scientists explain Jerome Bettis?’ That was it. Conversation over. I picked up whatever was left of my sausage, egg and cheese breakfast burrito and left the table. Then I returned a few minutes later because I forgot my car keys.

Now I’m more enlightened now. Meat and dairy are evil, whole foods and vegetables are good. In fact I would guffaw at my dietary train of thought in 2006. However, one thing still remains consistent — no one in this universe or the next is beating Anderson Silva. My conspiracy theory is Dana White and other fighters in the organization are saying Weidman will beat Anderson Silva just to get fans to buy the PPV. Wait, that isn’t a conspiracy theory at all — that’s just an existential fact of marketing. I mean, let’s not forget there was a time in UFC history when we were told James Toney had a chance against Randy Couture.

In this UFC interview, Anderson Silva tells us what we already knew, Chris Weidman needs to work on his standup — and he better do so immediately.
