Anderson Silva is open to some different fight opportunities with Jake Paul.
The longtime UFC champion Anderson Silva has recently left MMA behind him and is embarking on a new kind of journey in combat sports. At 46 years old, Silva decided to try his skills in the boxing ring. He has had four professional boxing matches and is now lined up to face Jake Paul in a much-anticipated bout later this month.
Paul has made a name for himself in the boxing world by fighting and beating former MMA champions. Now he is hoping to do the same with Silva, but Silva is taking this bout seriously and is preparing as if he was fighting an elite boxer.
“He’s fast, he has a hard punch,” Silva said of Paul in the Full Send Podcast. “But I’m prepared for that. You know, I’m preparing my mind for fight, with my hard(est) fight in my life. You know what I don’t go fight the Jake Paul I go fight with the best fighter in this sport.”
Paul has proven that he has skills inside the ring. He has won all of his five professional fights so far, but Silva has a unique idea to bring to the table when the boxing match is over. Silva stated that he would like to offer Paul a kickboxing match.
“I go talk to Jake and say let’s go doing the one more fight but exhibition, kickboxing,” he said. You can kick me and I can kick you, but I promise I don’t go kick you hard. When the fight finish, I say Jake let’s go do the other fight in the kickboxing, that’d be amazing. Let’s go do one more.”
Anderson Silva feels that Charles Oliveira has what it takes to beat Islam Makhachev
Another topic that was brought up to Silva while on the podcast was the upcoming UFC lightweight championship bout between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev. He explained that he was very excited to watch this fight and made a prediction.
“Charles Oliveira is amazing fighter. And nobody can talk about him because the kid doing something very crazy. You know in training hard. You know in the training a lot for many many years now. I think you start to see more your followers inside the company,” he said “Of course, Charles Do Bronx will win, I know it’s hard, but I think he’s gonna win.”
Silva is taking his fellow Brazilian to win back his lost UFC lightweight belt. That fight will go down at UFC 280 on Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi. Silva vs. Paul will take place on Oct. 29 in Phoenix Arizona.
