Anderson Silva brought in BJJ demigod Andre Galvao to prepare for Chris Weidman

The only other Andre we used to talk about on MiddleEasy was ‘Andrei Arlovski,’ and we’re not sure what happened to that guy. The last time I saw him, we were in a bus with Travis Browne traversing through the Philippines, trying to get to the airport. It was after that weird stoppage against Tim Sylvia at ONE FC that was later turned to a no-contest due to ‘illegal soccer kicks.’ The rule book was later changed to allow all soccer kicks inside the cage, something that everyone can appreciate — as long as they’re not getting soccer kicked in the jaw.

Andre Galvao on the other hand, the guy is like the closest thing to a celestial entity the BJJ world has. He has more gold than 2 Chainz human genetic cloning factory. Galvao has won at least one gold medal every year in a world-class BJJ tournament for over a decade. Therefore it’s no surprise that Anderson Silva decided to enlist the ground skills of Andre Galvao for in preparation for his upcoming fight against Chris Weidman at UFC 162.

Check out what Galvao told Brazil’s PVT, via the magic of Google Translate.

“I came to help Anderson for his fight against Chris Weidman. He asked me to help him on the floor, and he always helped me just coming

I’m helping him and everything is going well. Since Ramon came here when I saw an improvement on the floor of Anderson, who is a black belt, then just take a polished, just give that stimulus in Jiu-Jitsu he catches. He is a very talented guy who learns fast . In this aspect he is fine and will be ready to fight Chris Weidman.

So a BJJ blackbelt is perfecting his black belt against perhaps the world’s best competing BJJ blackbelt — in preparation to fight a BJJ brown belt. Damn, just damn.
