Anderson Silva Believes The Fight Versus Georges St-Pierre Is Still An Option

Anderson Silva Sees The Fight With Georges St-Pierre As A Possibility

The former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva wants to return to the Octagon as soon as possible. He claims he doesn’t exclude the possibility of facing former UFC Welterweight French-Canadian superstar Georges St-Pierre.

After reaching the deal with USADA, The Spider is eligible to return in November. Anderson Silva opened up about the possible GSP showdown. After all, both fighters were dominating their divisions for a very long period of time but the super fight has never happened. (via MMAFighting.com)

“Anything is possible in the UFC, man,” Silva said. “It’s a very eclectic company, with a broad vision of the sport. They are going through a new moment, a moment of entertainment, so anything can happen.”

Anderson Silva has lost his UFC Middleweight title after a knockout loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, while GSP shocked the world when he returned a few years later and defeated Michael Bisping at UFC 217, winning the UFC Middleweight title! Georges St-Pierre is one of the rare fighters who won the belts in two different weight divisions.

“I think the decisions have to be made at the time they have to be made,” Silva said when asked about GSP moving up to middleweight when he was no longer the champion. “I think he had a good strategy, did a good fight with Bisping. They are both great fighters. If we didn’t fight that’s because it really shouldn’t have happened.”

Anderson Silva was very lucky since this is the second time he had issues with USADA, and the penalty could have been much worse. Last time, his fight versus Nick Diaz at UFC 183 was overturned to no contest after both fighters were positive on banned substances.

Would you like to see the fight between Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre? A tremendous striker and submission specialist versus all-around legend. What do you think, who would win this spectacular showdown?
