Amanda Nunes shared her breakdown of the upcoming rematch with Julianna Pena.

In Dec. 2021, the world of mixed martial arts witnessed quite possibly the biggest upset in the history of the sport when Pena dethroned Nunes at UFC 269. The former two-division champion lost her bantamweight strap on a night many claimed she didn’t look like herself on.

Now, “The Lioness” is back to get her belt.

Amanda Nunes breaks down her upcoming rematch with Julianna Pena

In an interview with Nikhil Sharma, reporting for Heavy, Amanda Nunes talked about her rematch with the reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Pena at UFC 277.

“The fight starts on the feet so, of course, we’re going to get in a couple of exchanges. Of course, I’m not going to make a couple of mistakes that I did in my last one.

“I feel like Julianna now is more, she’s going to be more powerful now because she became a champion.

“She’s going to be more exciting. She’s going to want to push the pace even more in the fight. I feel like that’s where I shine the most when somebody can pressure me when I have a challenge in front of me.”

Nunes believes that Pena will look to use her wrestling

In their first fight, Pena managed to get Nunes into a stand-up striking exchange before using her grappling abilities to take her down and submit her by a rear-naked choke. The 34-year-old Brazilian believes that Pena will look to her wrestling to come out on top in their second clash.

“She’s going to be more precise in her wrestling just because she thinks she had success in the last fight. So I feel like she’s going to use her wrestling thinking that’s her way to beat me.

“But, I’m going to be ready for everything. The last fight was a very bad situation for me, and in my whole camp, the fight day was as well so this time I’m 100 percent.”

Amanda Nunes will rematch Julianna Pena for the bantamweight title at UFC 277 on July 20 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
