A lightweight bout between Joel Alvarez and Arman Tsarukyan is taking place now (Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022) at UFC Vegas 49.
Round 1
Tsarukyan with a leg kick early. They trade jabs. Tsarukyan drops Alvarez with a leg kick and is on top of him now. Tsarukyan lands an elbow. Alvarez is throwing strikes from the bottom but is still being controlled. Tsarukyan passes to half guard. There’s a scramble but Tsarukyan is still in control. Tsarukyan lands another elbow. Tsarukyan splits Alvarez open with a huge elbow. Alvarez is bleeding heavy as the round ends. The fight may even be stopped.
Round 2
Tsarukyan shoots and gets a takedown early. He’s now in side control and is looking for the crucifix. Tsarukyan starts landing plenty of ground and pound. Alvarez starts to shell up and the end looks near. Alvarez does enough to keep the fight going before the referee eventually calls off the contest.
