Aljamain Sterling is taking Israel Adesanya’s side in his upcoming lawsuit.
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster. After the first loss at 185 pounds against Alex Pereira, Adesanya regrouped, came back, and defeated Pereira for the first time in his career. He is once again holding the UFC title around his waist and he’s currently searching for a next opponent but his personal life is under scrutiny.
Adesanya is currently being sued by his ex-girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell. According to multiple reports, Powdrell is suing Adesanya for half of his UFC earnings from the time that they were a couple. Adesanya is fairly quiet about his personal life and the duration of their relationship is not really known at this time, but several other UFC fighters have been speaking out about the subject. Most recently Aljamain Sterling.
Aljamain Sterling does not believe that Israel Adesanya‘s ex-girlfriend is owed half
Sterling took to his YouTube page to address this issue between Adesanya and his ex-girlfriend. After a fairly sexist rant about gender roles, Sterling said he agreed that the ex-girlfriend was not owed half.
“His ex-girlfriend, on the just reading the headline, you don’t deserve to get half just reading the headline,” he said. “From my perspective Izzy’s the one in the Octagon, taking punches, getting brain damage. He’s the one that gets knocked out. He’s the one going through those crazy dog training sessions. What she’s doing, at least from what I’m seeing Izzy’s posts and comments seems like he was just supporting her, and that she cost him money…We don’t know all those fine details. So I’m fully supportive of Izzy in this situation.”
Sterling was not clear on many of the details regarding the relationship between Adesanya and Powdrell. He said he was on Adesanya’s side and unless she was put out from getting a job on her own due to her support of Adesanya he believes she’s owed anything. Sean O’Malley also commented on this subject on his YouTube channel stating pretty much the same. Adesanya has been fairly quiet except for a few social media callouts of this ex-girlfriend of his which were pretty vague.
