Alistair Overeem and the rest of Golden Glory will appear in a new action movie

Now that Alistair Overeem and Marloes Coenen have dominated their respective corners of the universe, they will descend to earth on whatever space craft they posses to play a role in the upcoming European action movie directed by Michael Wright called ‘Amsterdam Heavy’. Apparently the film will depict the tale of a man seeking revenge, only to be stopped dead in his tracks by Alistair Overeem. Technically, Overeem should be the final character the protagonist encounters in the film, sort of like a level boss in Double Dragon II. Therefore we’re assuming that Alistair Overeem will aid the main character in order for him to get revenge on the streets of Bangkok. Any other scenario would be unrealistic, of course. Paradigm Pictures gives more info about the film in this excerpt.

Unprecedented in scope, Amsterdam Heavy is taking the acting talent of Europe and blending it with powerfully choreographed fight scenes. Special appearances from Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) stars include Alistair Overeem (the current Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, DREAM Interim Heavyweight Champion, and K-1 World Grand Prix Champion) , Semmy Schilt (four time K-1 World GP champion), Marloes Coenen (last fall’s Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion) and Gokhan Saki (two time Dutch and European Muay Thai champion).

Amsterdam Heavy is an action-fueled story of one man’s relentless quest for revenge, as, against all the odds, he smuggles himself back from Bangkok to his home city, arriving with nothing but his fists and a burning desire for retribution.

The movie takes us on a roller-coaster journey into the violent, criminal heart of Amsterdam, with diverse characters, fast set pieces, a streak of dark humor, and a twist that opens up rich sequel opportunities.

The movie will premiere in the Cannes Film Festival in France on May 2011, roughly around the same time the semi-finals of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand-Prix will go down. [Source]
