Alexander Volkanovski is backing his friend and teammate Israel Adesanya to defeat Sean Strickland.
Adesanya enters his UFC 293 main event as a massive betting favorite, and many expect him to cruise to a win. He has been vocal in saying he will find the knockout as he wants to make a statement on Strickland.
However, Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t think it will be a regular finish. Instead, he says he sees Israel Adesanya breaking Sean Strickland’s arm with his kicks.
Volkanovski shares prediction for Adesanya-Strickland
“Izzy’s gonna really pick him apart. Smash his legs. The variety and dexterity that Izzy has with his legs, mixing it up at the leg, whether it goes to the body or up high, I can see so much damage happening,” Volkanovski said on his YouTube channel. “One thing I’ve been picturing in my head, a broken arm. Breaking Sean Strickland’s arm from a kick. I don’t know why, I’m just seeing it happen. Just while [Strickland] is trying to block, while he thinks it’s going low and brings his hand up last minute, and just snapping it.
“I’m actually picturing that. So, is there anything, can you get odds for a broken bone? Probably not. I’m going to go TKO, I think it will be a TKO, mid-rounds, two, three. I think he could do it in the first, round two or three TKO stoppage and he really does put it on him,” Volkanovski continued.
If Israel Adesanya does break Sean Strickland’s arm with kicks, it would be an incredible prediction from Alexander Volkanovski. However, the Aussie has all the confidence in the world that Adesanya will defend his belt in style at UFC 293.
As for Alexander Volkanovski, he does not have his next fight booked but is coming off a TKO win over Yair Rodriguez in July. Since then, he had to heal up his elbow, but it does appear that Ilia Topuria would be next in line.
