  • Alex Pereira responded to Brendan Schaub’s claim that Khamzat Chimaev will beat him with ease
  • “Poatan” wants Schaub and “Borz” to bet against him

Alex Pereira has yet to secure a middleweight title challenger, but he has already found a potential opponent in Khamzat Chimaev. The pair have been expressing the desire to take on one another in Brazil and while nothing is concrete yet, “Poatan” has proposed multiple $50,000 bets to “Borz” and Brendan Schaub.

Let’s make it official

It can be recalled that Schaub has heavily criticized Pereira and said that Chimaev will “beat the sh*t” out of the reigning middleweight champ. Pereira didn’t let it slide  and hit back during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour.

According to “Poatan,” regardless of his condition, he wants to fight “Borz” at light heavyweight in Rio. As for Schaub, Pereira challenged him to bet on Chimaev to be the winner for $50,000, and another $50,000 that “Borz” will take him down in “30 seconds.” Pereira stressed that it’s not just talk because he wants it on paper to make it official. All the winnings will be donated to the kids at charities.

“Ok. No. 1, even injured, he said he’ll fight Chimaev in Rio at light heavyweight. No problem for him. No. 2, Brendan Schaub, I think he wants running his mouth…I’m not even gonna translate. It’s kind of some a—hole sh*t…Brendan Schaub, I think, he says, talk a lot of crap that Chimaev running over him, blah, blah, blah, and now so he say, that he will be able to take Alex down in 30 seconds. So, here’s the deal. He’ll fight Chimaev, in Rio, in 205. And he proposed a bet to Schaub. $50,000 if he beat Chimaev, we both go, and those $50k from both sides, we donate to kids in needs. And also, 50k more that he do not take him down in 30 seconds. And we double those $50k, to donate for the charity,” Pereira said through a translator.

“Not only Schaub, if Chimaev too if he wants to jump on the bet train, let’s bet. We donate them to the charity,” he added. “And not only to run their mouth. We’ll call the manager, we make an agreement, Christmas is coming, let’s feed the kids.”

A hyped fight

Undeniably, Pereira vs. Chimaev has become one of the most highly-anticipated fight in the UFC today. Both fighters have never tasted defeat in the promotion and even though no belt will be on the line when they fight at light heavyweight, all signs point to a blockbuster PPV event.

Style-wise, Pereira and Chimaev are different but both very dangerous. “Poatan” relies heavily on his striking, while “Borz” has dismantled most of his opponents on the ground.

It will be an interesting fight to see and it’s up to the UFC if they will give it a go. However, Pereira has also confirmed that he’ll be open for an immediate rematch with Israel Adesanya if “The Last Stylebender” insists. It will be the fourth time Izzy and “Poatan” will fight each other, with the Brazilian leading 3-0.
