Alex Pereira has his own read on why Jiri Prochazka lost the UFC 327 main event, and it comes down to one decision.
After Prochazka’s knockout loss to Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327, Pereira said the fight turned on the moment Ulberg appeared to injure his leg and Prochazka still chose to stand in front of him and exchange. For Pereira, that was not some noble show of spirit. It was a mistake that changed the whole fight.
In a video posted by UFC Brasil, Pereira said:
“What happened there, everyone saw that Ulberg got injured. We don’t know if it was from the kicks or if he was already hurt, but it doesn’t matter. Those are the risks of being in there. He knew that, the responsibility is entirely on the athlete, and that’s part of the game.”
Pereira said, “But during the fight, I was watching and I said, ‘Man, Jiri is going in hard, he looks different,’ and all that. That moment when he started calling him out, that samurai warrior kind of thing, I think that hurt him a bit, you know?”

Alex Pereira says Jiri Prochazka’s UFC 327 choice came with a brutal price
Pereira is a former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion and former middleweight champion who beat Prochazka in title fights at UFC 295 and UFC 303. Prochazka is the former UFC light heavyweight champion and the first Czech fighter to win a UFC belt. He came into UFC 327 after stopping Jamahal Hill at UFC 311, but left with another setback in a title fight.
Pereira never fully unloaded on him, but he made his own stance obvious. He said:
“I’ll speak for myself. If it were me in there, it’s a fight, you know? Both guys are trained, one wants to hurt the other. Unfortunately, Jiri had some actions that came at a very high cost. I think he learned a lot from it. That’s what I have to say.”
Pereira’s point was simple. Once Ulberg looked compromised, Prochazka had a chance to change the fight and did not take it.
Now Prochazka is left trying to rebuild after another setback, Ulberg’s knee situation is still hanging over the division, and Pereira is moving toward his own next chapter, with more attention already building around the UFC White House card.
