“Poatan” has been gearing up for his UFC 307 title fight with Khalil Rountree in a high-altitude gym in Salt Lake City. He linked up with Sean Strickland to work on his striking and as of late, Pereira has been sparring with Igor Adiel Macedo, who is one of the best heavyweight boxers in Brazil.
According to the reigning light heavyweight champion, he has been regularly sparring with Igor and the one they had recently was unsurprisingly an intense one and one of the best he has ever had in a while.
“What up, people. bringing this video of me sparring boxing with Igor Adiel, one of the best heavyweights in Brazil. I would say one of the best sparring I’ve had. [The] Guy is sinister. I want to show my evolution, passed about four years,” Pereira said on his YouTube channel.
“I was in Glory [Kickboxing] still, middleweight. Igor heavyweight — he is a bit more skinny but still heavyweight. We always trained. Always was a good training. He always gave me work. I always gave him work. I evolved a lot, from these trainings. It was always hard,” he added.

Alex helps his community
Despite his undeniable success, Pereira has never failed to give back to his community in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. In a clip from UFC 307 Countdown, “Poatan’s” visit to his hometown was filmed and he could be seen donating boxes of food for his people.
“I’ve been blessed and I want to share those blessings with you,” Pereira said in front of a crowd. “The cameras are here not for me to show off but to encourage people to donate to those in need. I think we can make a difference not only in your lives but in the lives of many others.”
“We’re going to give away over a thousand [food] boxes, helping over a thousand families. It’s been something I’ve been doing for a while. My reality used to be theirs. I went through a lot of hardship, and my biggest fear was always being hungry. So if I can do something to help, I’ll do it,” he reflected.
