Alex Pereira truly is living his best life.

While the UFC was across the globe in Abu Dhabi putting on another critically acclaimed pay-per-view event, ‘Poatan’ was dancing in the streets in Mexico City.

In a clip shared by Happy Punch on X, Pereira was spotted wearing a Lucha mask while attending an event and decided to show off his moves in the middle of the street alongside his coach, Plinio Cruz.

Magomed Ankalaev Thinks the UFC is Protecting Alex Pereira

UFC 307 saw Alex Pereira successfully defend his light heavyweight championship for the third time in 2024, scoring a fourth-round TKO against Khalil Rountree in Salt Lake City. Before that, ‘Poatan’ finished Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 before returning two months later to once again defeat Jiri Prochazka in the UFC 303 headliner.

No official announcements have been made regarding Pereira’s next title defense, but all signs point toward it being against the division’s top-ranked contender—Magomed Ankalaev

Unfortunately, their potential clash has failed to spark any type of excitement in fight fans. Perhaps that’s why the UFC opted to give Rountree the spot at UFC 307 instead of Ankalev. Of course, the Dagestani had a much different take on the situation.

“I think he’s being protected,” Ankalaev said during the UFC 308 post-fight press conference. “I’m not sure why the UFC is doing it,” Ankalaev said. “I think they’re protecting him. We know that he’s an exciting fighter. We know that he fights in the standup. He’s a great striker. So I think that they’re just saving him, protecting him.”

Ankalaev earned a unanimous decision victory over Aleksandar Rakić in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, re-establishing himself as the next man in line for ‘Poatan.’
