  • “Poatan” said he would push through with his plan whether or not he wins at UFC 307

Alex Pereira is serious about facing Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title.

Alex wants DDP no matter what

“Poatan” has set his sights on “Stillknocks” ever since Du Plessis defended his middleweight belt against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. As it turns out, Pereira doesn’t plan to just have a verbal war with Du Plessis.

Instead, the reigning light heavyweight champion confirmed that he would come down to 185 to reclaim his title “regardless” if he wins or loses in his upcoming title fight at UFC 307.

“I’m focused on my next fight and I’m going prepared but you never know what can happen , so regardless of the result I want to go down one more time to the middleweight and go for the belt. Hey Dricus, bring your will to fight me so you can prove that you are better than me, with your public statement it is easy to make this happen, Chama,” Pereira wrote on Instagram.

DDP says he’ll come for Alex at 205

On the other hand, Du Plessis has already addressed Pereira’s callout and insisted that their showdown should take place at 205. For “Stillknocks,” the Brazilian may just come up with an excuse about weight cutting if he comes down to 185 and therefore Du Plessis will just be the one to move up.

As it stands, Pereira is already booked for his third title defense at light heavyweight against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 on Oct. 5th in Salt Lake City. Du Plessis, meanwhile, already voiced his desire to take on Sean Strickland in a rematch for his next title defense to give the fans what they want. However, “Stillknocks” believed that Robert Whittaker is the most deserving title contender at 185.
