Alex Oliveira Finishes Carlos Condit Via Second Round Submission

The co-main event of UFC on FOX 29 saw a welterweight bout between Alex Oliveira and Carlos Condit that went down tonight (Sat., April 14, 2018) at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., near Phoenix. It aired on FOX following prelims on FOX and UFC Fight Pass.

Former Welterweight veteran Carlos Condit was originally slated to face Matt Brown who pulled out of out due to an injury with Oliveira stepping up on short notice. However, Oliveria was a tough matchup for Carlos.

Oliveira defeated Condit via guillotine choke in the second round. Now Carlos Condit has dropped four straight fights, five of six, and seven of nine.

In the first round, both Carlos and Oliveira had their moments. Condit likely got the nod in the round, though, as he finished strong and had Oliveira in a tight rear-naked choke. Horn buzz that saves the Oliveira.

In the second round, Oliveira landed a nasty upkick to the jaw. Bloody Carlos scrambled and locked in Oliveria’s guard. As fight continue, Condit fell into Oliveira’s choke, and while he held out as long as he could, he eventually had to tap.

Oliveira has now won five of his past six fights.
