Alaska is having a Pride-rules MMA card on June 19th — and it’s absolutely free

I was getting chicken yesterday and saw on the menu that cheesesticks is now a side-order. It’s about time. This new side-order saves me so much hard work. The side-order naming committee deserves a pat on the back for that one. Now next on the list, ‘Mike and Ikes‘. I never had them with chicken but — who knows? It could be the next taste sensation, or it could equally be another addition to the dumpster behind my place. You must go through life as a pioneer, and that applies to mixing ridiculous flavor combinations as well as assembling unsanctioned MMA cards in the middle of a park in Alaska.

An MMA organization emerging from Anchorage City, Alaska called ‘Midnight Sun Mayhem‘ plans to hold a Pride-rules event on June 19th inside a ring without an athletic commission. The organization states the event will be held under ‘Pride-rules’, but at Midnight Sun Mayhem, elbows are also allowed. Initially, the card was scheduled to be headlined by UFC veteran, Rob Yundt. Unfortunately, Yundt was forced to pull out of the event and has been replaced with Strikeforce veteran, Alex ‘Spider’ Trevino. The event will also feature a slew of muay-thai and kickboxing matches and if you feel like getting a ticket to Alaska later this month, the event will be free of charge.

Alaska and their lack of an athletic commission. It’s like the wild, wild west of MMA only if the wild, wild, wild west was covered with a frozen tundra and blood thirsty vampires. [Source]
