Al Iaquinta Explains Why He Deserves Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Rematch, Not Conor Mcgregor
UFC lightweight champion, Khabib ‘Eagle’ Nurmagomedov, was expected to face (NSAC) on (Dec. 10, 2018) to answer for his antics at UFC 229 post-fight brawl, now that disciplinary hearing is rescheduled for Jan. 29. We don’t know when a 155-pound champion will make his Octagon return as he’s awaiting his final fate.
Not only that Conor Mcgregor is also waiting to find out his final fate for his role at the UFC 229 post-fight brawl that occurred after Khabib submitted the Irishman.
Shortly after the loss, Mcgregor called for an immediate rematch. Many were not agree with this idea, including analyst Joe Rogan and Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz. Even Dana White has someone else in mind for Khabib, is a former interim champion, Tony Ferguson.
But following a decision win over Kevin Lee at UFC On FOX 31 this past weekend, Al Iaquinta has a strong message for Irishman.
“If Conor thinks he’s getting a rematch before me, I think that’s some nonsense,” Iaquinta said after UFC on FOX 31 (via MMA Fighting). “No immediate rematch for him, he tapped out. I took it like a man on a week’s notice, he had all the time in the world to prepare, and he wanted a way out. I’m the fucking guy in this division.”
To remind you Al Iaquinta took a short notice fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 earlier in March, when featherweight champion Max Holloway withdrawal from the bout due to weight cut issues. ‘Raging Al’ and ‘Eagle’ fought for five rounds, but the final decision goes to Khabib.
According to Iaquinta, he went the distance in Khabib fight and Mcgregor tap out against lightweight champion regardless of all the time he had for his training camp, so based on that theory ‘Raging Al’ feels he runs next for Khabib rematch.
Khabib meanwhile believes Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson are most deserving for a title. Well, let’s argue who should be next in line for Khabib’s title?
