After Dream 10…Aoki becomes the most versatile lightweight in MMA

This is your last chance to hop on the Shinya Aoki bandwagon before it leaves your neighborhood. It only comes around once a year so kiss your parents goodbye and don’t forget to pack your toothbrush. Look, I even saved a seat for you. What is there left to say about Shinya Aoki that hasnt already been said about David Carradine, you will be asphyxiated if you mess with Aoki (too soon?). Everyone thought this fight was going to be a tactical ground war with Aoki eventually grabbing the W via reverse gogoplata (or something equally Aoki’ish) but Shinya stood up with Vitor Ribeiro (dude goes by ‘Shaolin’ and I’m entirely jealous of that nickname. I wish I would have thought of it first) landing ridunkulously hard leg kicks to Riberio’s body. By the end of the first round, Vitor’s arm looked so red that if you had a jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread you could start dishing out some after school snacks to 3rd graders.

Riberio eventually took Aoki to the ground in the second round but couldnt do much due to rubber guard pulled by the octopus tentacles Shinya Aoki calls ‘legs’. Aoki won the decision and everything was good on Castle Grayskull…but lets get to why everyone tuned in at 5am morning: The Pants!. Aoki came into Saitama Super Arena rocking a pair of pants that would have made him an honorary member of the Lollypop Guild. Over his red and white horizontal stripped pants Aoki, for the first time, wore matching red/white shorts. It was like he was sponsored by Where’s Waldo.

Finally, the reason why the banner says ‘Stupid Survivor’ is because ‘baka’ means ‘stupid’ in Japanese (I just found that out this morning) and Aoki’s theme song ever since he’s been in Dream (and probably longer than that) has been ‘Baka Survivor’ by ULFUS. In honor of Shinya Aoki (and his pants), here is Aoki’s walk-out song which will probably be in your head for the rest of the week.
