After being crushed by Chad Mendes’ elbows, Conor McGregor rallies back and becomes the interim featherweight champ

What an amazing night of fights, and everything worked out the way it should’ve. Robbie Lawler won, and then Conor McGregor rallies back from being down on the scorecards by every stretch of the imagination to TKO Chad Mendes in one hell of a fight.

I do think it’s lame that this was for the interim title, but now I’m even more hyped for Aldo/McGregor than ever before. This really was the fight that should’ve happened to get McGregor to Aldo. Yes, he beat Mendes. Did he overcome the wrestling? He actually seemed to get taken down quite easily. I wonder if Aldo will go for the takedown?

Either way, what a battle. Mendes came in on short notice and looked damn good, but McGregor is a different monster, and fought exactly how he needed to to overtake Mendes and bring the belt to Ireland. It’s impossible to deny both great performances, but McGregor was just far too much to overcome. That KO power, man. Now we know exactly what he brings to Aldo. This is going to be so good.
