Israel Adesanya Foresees Fighting Jon Jones by “Early 2021”

Israel Adesanya Ready For Jon Jones by 2021

“Style Bender” Israel Adesanya has been on a media tour for the ages as far as MMA is concerned. Izzy has been featured on numerous podcasts, television shows, and magazines that has extended his brand far outside of the realm of MMA, and further into cross-over superstardom. So, any chance Adesanya gets to talk about Jon Jones, he takes it. Consequently, Israel believes he will fight Jon Jones by the year 2021.

Each time the Nigerian/New Zealander speaks, he reverberates references ingrained in the world of pop culture. From movies to video games, Adesanya is truly the embodiment of the upper echelon of millennials. So, it seems fitting that Izzy would view Jon Jones as the final boss on a very difficult video game.

Speaking to Media Ahead of UFC 243

Adesanya spoke to media members over at The Mac Life about a host of topics in preparation for his Middleweight unification bout at UFC 243 versus Robert Whittiker.

Of course, a reoccurring subject with Israel lately revolves around his belief that he will fight and dethrone Jon Jones.

“(Jon Jones) is definitely a boss in that game I want to play against,” said Adesanya.

“Raiders Stadium, in Las Vegas, that’s where it’s going to happen. I decided in July when I was in Vegas.

Izzy continued, “The middleweight division is getting stacked right now. (Paulo) Costa, I got to take care of, and a few others. I’m saying 2021… probably early.”

The reasoning for why Israel believes he will defeat Jones is partially due to seeing him perform live. And, Adesanya believes that ever since USADA came into the picture, Jon hasn’t looked ‘the same.”

Making Adesanya vs Jones a Reality

So, if Adesanya can unify the Middleweight titles and take care of all contenders in front of him, maybe he’ll have a chance to slay the king. He’s roughly averaged 3 fights per UFC so far in his UFC career, so if Adesanya wins out as planned, he will face Jones on a 21-fight win streak.

Booking the fight would sell itself if it were to play out in Israel’s favor. Here’s to hoping for the best. After all, fans would love to see these two men throw down.

Whether it’s 2021 or later, expect promotional records to break when this fight finally comes to fulfillment.
