According to Bibiano Fernandes, DREAM is having a bantamweight grand-prix

Some of you may remember Bibiano Fernandes from such MMA fights as ‘Make Joe Warren tap via armbar, give him the finger and then run out of the arena while giving him the finger again‘ and ‘Circle around Masakazu Imanari while he sits down in the middle of the Yokohama Arena‘. Bibiano Fernandes grabbed the split decision over Hiroyuki Takaya on October 6th 2009 at Dream 11 to strap the DREAM Featherweight Grand Prix belt around his 138lb frame. That same night, Joe Warren told everyone who could understand English that in fact he didn’t tap. Years have passed, Super Hulks have been awarded, and now Takaya has claimed the DREAM Featherweight belt from Bibiano Fernandes at Dynamite!! 2010. Now according to an interview from Bibiano in TATAME Magazine, DREAM wants to see if he can randomly throw another finger in someone’s face in an upcoming bantamweight grand-prix.

“I have two more fights to do on Dream, and I’ll keep my contract. I’ll probably change for the bantamweight and join this GP cast. I was the featherweight champion, and I’ll get a new title now… You can hope the best Bibiano ever in 2011”.

FEG executives recently said they expect the next DREAM event to go down sometime in July which denotes that Japanese MMA isn’t dead, but perhaps it’s going on a drunken, suicidal binge for the next five months. Of course, I hope I’m completely wrong. [Source]
