Manager: ‘Notorious’ Being Protected From Jorge Masvidal

Earlier this week Jorge Masvidal’s manager Abraham Kawa said that ‘Gamebred,’ has a plan that he would either accept welterweight champion Kamaru Usman title bout or money fight with former champ Conor McGregor only. Masvidal is riding high after scoring a 5-second KO win over Ben Askren at UFC 239 that gives him some edge, but UFC president Dana White turned down the idea of Mcgregor fighting at the 170-pound division.

Now Masvidal’s manager Abraham kawa recently speaks with MMAJunkie stating that Dana White is shielding Conor McGregor from getting another ass whooping from the hands of Jorge Masvidal.

“God bless Dana, he’s protecting Conor,” Kawa said. “He wants to make sure Conor doesn’t get his ass whooped. And that’s fine.”

Kawa is still hopeful that Masvidal will get title shot considering that his stock is higher than ever following his record-setting win. If not Mcgregor ‘Gamebred,’ has a lot of options on the table to choose. Masvidal’s next opponent largely dependant on the results of Colby Covington vs. Robbie Lawler bout in August.

“He’s crossed over into that sphere of Conor and Nate,” Kawa said of Masvidal.

“If (Colby) beats Robbie, and he gets the next title shot, we’re OK,” Kawa said. “We already knew this going into the fight. We knew where we were placement wise. I just think it’s kind of sad that they would do any fight before Jorge. I think you’ve got to strike while the iron is hot, and you get the hottest fight there is possible, and that has to be Jorge vs. Usman.”

Conor McGregor continues to tease his retirement MMA and hasn’t responded to Masvidal’s call out however promotion president, Dana White, expects an Irishman to return by the end of 2019 or early 2020.

We all know Mcgregor so want the winner of Khabib vs. Poirier but let’s see how things play out in the next few months.
