A look back at Battle of the Pros from Brooklyn on Sept. 13th

What happens when you push all the MMA gear out of the way, hire a caterer, and erect a Muay Thai ring at the newest Renzo Gracie Academy in Brooklyn, NY? Well, for starters, you charge $100 a head to keep the trolls and hipsters away. Then, you get eight professional fighters to duke it out in a one-night tournament while a slew of local K-1 and UFC fighters as well as television celebrities cheer them on. What you’re left with is a hangover from the open bar, and one of the oddest shows I’ve ever attended. Odd in a good way, like the chick from Total Recall with three breasts. It was a typical evening of Muay Thai where a wedding or a Bar Mitzvah could break out at any moment. At the end of the night, Toronto’s Troy Sheridan is a name Brooklyn fight fans won’t soon forget.
