An unknown person tried to set fire to Conor McGregor’s Black Forge Inn in Dublin, Ireland, on July 25, 2025. The attack caused little damage, and McGregor said he spotted the suspect in public, helping catch him fast. The pub stayed open, showing its toughness. McGregor used the event to boost his run for Ireland’s presidency, promising to serve the people.

McGregor Stands Strong After Fire

The fire started at 3 a.m. when someone poured flammable liquid at the pub’s entrance and lit it. Dublin Fire Brigade put out the flames quickly, and the pub opened as usual, per BBC Sport. McGregor posted on Instagram, saying:

“The pub is open for business today, folks. You wouldn’t get through it with a rocket launcher. She’s spotless. Up the Forge! Built different baby.” He later deleted the post.

McGregor claimed he helped catch the suspect, writing on X,

“I locate criminals in minutes. And remove them in 2!” He suggested a setup, stating, “I have great reservations whether the individual who, unmasked and ungloved, attacked … The Black Forge Inn, without prior of being put up to / pressured to do so by someone else above. Knowing I would locate this individual before your kettle pops in the morning, Ireland, they were possibly attempting to draw out a different reaction from me.” He added, “No chance. I roll fully Presidential for you, Ireland. Street smart. Book smart. Open minded.”

Conor McGregor, a 37-year-old from Dublin, has a 22-6 MMA record. He began MMA in 2008, going 10-2 in regional promotions. McGregor joined the UFC in 2013, winning the featherweight title in 2015 against Jose Aldo and the lightweight title in 2016 against Eddie Alvarez, becoming the first UFC fighter to hold two division titles at once. He beat fighters like Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway but lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 and Poirier in 2021. A leg injury at UFC 264 in 2021 paused his fighting. McGregor owns The Black Forge Inn and Proper No. Twelve whiskey.

McGregor bought The Black Forge Inn in Crumlin, Dublin, in 2019. The pub faced a petrol bomb attack in 2022, which caused no damage due to bulletproof windows McGregor installed. The 2025 fire, the second attack, did minimal harm thanks to the pub’s strong setup, per AOL. Dublin police are reviewing CCTV footage, but no arrests are confirmed, despite McGregor’s claim.

McGregor’s quick action and claim of spotting the suspect show his bold character. He tied the incident to his presidential run, saying:

“I am against no beliefs of the Irish public! My job will be to find what it is, that is the wish of the greater Irish people, and make it so! Ireland, people of Ireland, public sector, private sector, farm industry, hospitality industry, tourist industry, what I can do for you all is just astounding! I PROMISE YOU ALL! Listen to me. Believe me. Support me. ONE THING IS FOR CERTAIN AND YOU MUST KNOW IT ALREADY, Business and life will be booming with the Mac at the helm for you! For you, Ireland! Your wants. Your needs. My job! Put me on the ballot, I am for YOU and ONLY YOU!”

The pub’s quick reopening proves its strength.

McGregor’s presidential campaign is unconfirmed, as Ireland’s next election is in 2032. He might return to the UFC to fight Michael Chandler, or focus on his businesses. The Black Forge Inn stays open, and police continue their investigation.
