For Kickboxing fans, Alex Pereira is one of the very best fighters on the planet. The Glory middleweight and the interim Light Heavyweight champion is considered by many as the pound for pound best fighter in the world and one of the best Brazilian fighter in the history of the sport. To MMA fans he’s mostly known as the only man who twice defeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. But he might soon become a force to be reckoned with in the MMA world.
Last night (Fri., Nov. 20, 2020), Pereira was making his debut at LFA 95 in Park City, Kansas against Thomas Powell (4-5). With his significant striking advantage, there was no doubt that Pereira would plan to stay on his feet, outstrike his opponent and capitalize on his mistakes. Well, he didn’t have to wait long for a huge blunder from Powell. Four minutes into the fight, he walked right into a beautiful counter left hook from Pereira. He immediately fell face-first to the ground and remained unconscious for several minutes. It was a scary moment to see the doctors attend to Powell while he was just unable to move, but he seemed okay after regaining consciousness. As okay as one can be after getting knocked out.

This was a demonstration for Pereira who is now 3-1 in his young MMA career. If he continues to prove himself in LFA, we might very well watch him compete in the UFC pretty soon.
