Legendary Morrocan-Dutch kickboxer Badr Hari is set to take on Alistair Overeem at GLORY Collision 4. Coming off three consecutive defeats and a no-contest in his latest outing, Hari will take to the ring against a former adversary of his.

UFC veteran Overeem was let go by the promotion and signed a multi-fight contract with Glory in June 2021. He was scheduled to challenge Glory heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven but was forced to withdraw from an injury.

Hari and Overeem’s infamous rivalry

Back in December 2008, ‘Ubereem’ shocked the world by knocking out ‘The Bad Boy’ in the opening round of their contest. It marked a major upset for the kickboxing fans who had to witness their hero get defeated by the MMA athlete.

Overeem openly challenged all kickboxers to step inside the ring with him during an infamous press conference after their first bout. Hari did not take too kindly to Overeem’s words and felt the need to defend the community’s honor from an outsider who came in from a different sport. Hari would take to the floor to deliver an iconic response.

Using his own words against him, Hari promised Overeem that he wouldn’t survive longer than two or three minutes with him the second time around. They would face each other again in a rematch almost exactly a year on from the first bout.

Hari kept his word and knocked out Overeem within three minutes of the first round at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final to settle their score. Both men will be looking to secure bragging rights in their third outing at GLORY Collision 4.
