We finally have the answers to Michael Jackson’s involvement with Sonic 3’s music

Genesis does, what Nintendon’t. As a child, I was lucky enough to own both systems, although I was always more of a Sega guy. The Dreamcast is my favorite system of all time, it was so far ahead of it’s time. So many moments of my childhood are attached to Sega and what they produced. Sonic 2 is at the top of the list, even though I still haven’t beat it without save states to this day. Every part of that game is ingrained into my brain forever. Most notably is the music, I don’t care where I am, when Mystic Cave Zone comes on, I’m dancing and getting funky as all hell. I don’t have a choice, I can’t control myself when this comes on, my body immediately starts to dance, much like Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega.

Sonic 3 might have had the better music but I always played more of Sonic 2 so to me, that music was more iconic, even though as a child, Knuckles was SO cool. One of gaming’s biggest and longest standing myths is Michael Jackson and his involvement with Sonic’s 3 music. There have been many rumors and myths as to why his name was pulled from the project. Some dealing with the accusations of child abuse some dealing with his unhappiness with the Genesis’ sound card. I won’t spoil anything, but finally we have clarity on one of the biggest myths in gaming history.
